Herbal medicines have been an important part of many cultures around the world, and have been successfully used for thousands of years. Around the world, different cultures have developed their own rich traditions of herbal medicine, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Ayurveda and Western Herbal Medicine.
Naturimedica Approach
Naturimedica provides evidence-informed, systems-based natural medicine resources that integrate current scientific understanding with holistic and traditional naturopathic wisdom, aiming to support sleep quality, energy, circadian rhythm regulation, gut health and overall wellbeing.
What Are Herbal Medicines?
Herbal medicines are plant-based products used to improve or maintain health. They come in many forms including herbal extracts (tinctures), teas, tablets, powders, creams or raw plants containing whole plants or plant parts made from whole plants or specific plant parts such as leaves, flowers, roots, stems, bark or seeds. The choice of herbs, often prescribed as carefully formulated combinations, depends on the individual’s health concerns, lifestyle, medical history and nutritional status.
Herbal medicine supports a holistic approach to health, recognising that prevention is as important as treatment. Many medicinal herbs may help restore balance (homeostasis) while supporting the body’s innate healing processes.
They offer a wide range of health benefits, making them popular among those seeking natural alternatives to conventional treatments. Herbal medicines are often well-tolerated and can be integrated into a broader health plan. However, it is essential to consult with an qualified healthcare professional or experienced herbalist before starting any herbal treatment, especially if you are taking other medications.
