ABOUT JOANNA SOCHAN

My passion for natural medicine grew from my own experiences. I had a 20-year career in the corporate sector which was very successful – and also very stressful. The daily stresses accumulated over time and I started to feel tired then exhausted, experienced brain fog, felt anxious and depressed, suffered from bad insomnia and felt overwhelmed even by small tasks or minor obstacles.

I suffered significant health problems as a result and, when conventional treatments had little effect, I began researching and applying various natural ways of healing such as wholefood nutrition, purified water, high quality supplements and herbs, and lifestyle changes such as adequate rest and daily relaxation time.

Soon I saw positive results and improvements. I consulted with a wise natural therapist who suggested a few key lab tests which confirmed a severe case of adrenal fatigue as well as major digestive issues such as intestinal parasites and gut flora imbalances that were impacting multiple body systems. She skilfully guided me through an 18-month long treatment to correct the imbalances overtime and allow the body to heal.

Seeing and experiencing dramatic positive changes in my health and energy levels, I became inspired and highly motivated to study natural medicine and eventually became a practitioner myself in 2010. Since then I’ve been sharing my knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for natural remedies, nutrition, lifestyle medicine and other natural health solutions, as highly effective methods to get well and stay healthy long-term.

While I respect and appreciate conventional medicine, and I liaise with many wonderful doctors and nurses, I see exciting potential for a natural approach to work either alongside conventional medicine or on its own, as required by clients and their circumstances. This method ensures my clients obtain benefits of both worlds and, as a result, their recovery rates and enjoyment of life increase significantly.

Having assisted many individuals in regaining their health, I believe that care, respect and empathy are as important in healing as any scientific tools, drugs or natural remedies, as is taking the time to listen to their stories.

With a focus on gut disorders, food intolerances, autoimmune conditions and hormone imbalances in clinical practice, I dedicate much time researching and constantly educating myself in everything I can about these conditions and their effective natural wholistic therapies.

I see a great need to assist and support a growing number of clients suffering from autoimmune disorders, adrenal dysfunction, excessive stress, pain and inflammation or hormone imbalances often accompanied by gut disorders such as IBS, SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, intestinal parasites or heartburn (reflux).

Whilst I aim to apply evidence-based methods where possible, I also listen to what clients say about their experiences and symptoms, and rely on my clinical experience as well as traditional empirical methods of applying natural medicines, backed by intuition and insight. My therapeutic approach is based on finding optimal solutions and applying them to a client’s circumstances.

As I’m an engineer by training (I have a masters degree in engineering), therefore I bring to the table solid and creative problem solving skills combined with a methodical approach. That’s why I’m often called a Health Engineer!

CLIENT EXPERIENCES

“Joanna is the definition of a perfect balance in her holistic approach to health care. She is grounded in the science of naturopathy, herbal remedies and nutrition; as well as bringing her warm and caring approach. Joanna’s passion for her work extends not only to face-to-face appointments, but ‘keep in touch’ emails, her website and regular newsletters. She also embodies radiance in her own health and personality! I would not hesitate to recommend Joanna to guide you on your journey to health, healing and happiness”.

Laura, School Counselor

“Over the past two years, Joanna has been my naturopath and consultant on all things relevant to my health and wellness. I have found her advice and consultations invaluable, as she has been able to improve many of my illnesses and ailments including: stress, menopause, and general unwellness due to an overactive (and often over-indulgent) lifestyle. What I appreciate most about Joanna is that her advice is evidence-based. As a PhD candidate in medicine, I am very sceptical about those who don’t do their research, and I find that Joanna presents the facts and the latest research in natural therapies. She has a lovely personality as well, which makes her an effective and pleasing person to partner with in keeping me healthy and well.”
